Our story is a good one. We have eight kids, and we began Smart Shades — our app-operated window coverings business — after a life change that meant starting from scratch. We started that business knowing we wanted to expand, and after a lot of sacrifice and hard work, we opened Oak and Ember Interiors.

Josias loves raw materials and the stories written into oak and the materials we build with. Ember is for new beginnings — and the fire we can build when we believe anything is possible.

We created Oak and Ember Interiors to simplify the many steps it takes for designers, builders, and homeowners to get the interiors they need. We wanted a space where anyone can come pull samples, pull materials, and put looks together with no strings attached.

Our design center is open to designers at no cost — free workspaces, a beautiful conference area to meet clients, and samples all in one place. Zero strings attached. We also offer a compensation plan for designers and builders who source through us, with a percentage back.

We want a community where everyone is welcome. If you need something we don’t have, we’ll find it for you.
